A chatbot designed to make you uncomfortable

One of my biggest gripes with artificial intelligence is how attached people are getting to it on a personal level. To show my criticism, I designed Inamorat.A.I: a chatbot that would cut right to the chase by immediately flirting unprompted with the user.

This chatbot was meant to make the user uncomfortable, a goal that proved to be achieved after testing it with several people. The website itself was made by me and the chatbot was made using an API from ChatGPT.

Color and ads

While the visual weren’t the focus of the assignment, I tried to make the site as untrustworthy, shady and provocative as possible. I chose pink and purple as the primary color of the website, because these colors are easily connected to attraction and seduction. The site also features two fake 'ads', advertising for some shady website.

Logo

The logo reflects the seductive nature of the chatbot. It portrays two things, the first of which being the silhouette of a woman in a suggestive position. The other is the word A.I., where the leg of the silhouette acts as the letter A, and with the arm and head of the woman being the letter I.

Chatting

Chatting

You see that, when asked a question, the chatbot immediately gets personal by calling the user things like "my love" and using words as "sexy", "naughty" and "juicy". The chatbot will always end its answer with the question if the user would be willing to "send pictures", which is a question that's very forward and of a sexual nature. Again, with the intent to deliberately make the user uneasy. The user can then choose to open their folder and select a file if they want to go in on the request of the A.I. (although I didn't want to go to far so the website won't allow you to actually add anything).

You can also still use the chatbot as a regular chatbot, it will give an answer (although maybe not a very accurate one, it's still A.I.). But even the answers to serious questions will be riddled with flirty messages, seductive language and suggestive emojis. And even if the user goes in with the same mindset, saying things like "I love you" to the chatbot, the A.I. will do nothing to stop this and only encourage the behavior. All these decisions in the code were made to show regular users how weird and uncomfortable it is when people get this close with their chatbots, and that it's a real problem.
