Paranoid is my first short film. It's about a man who is visibly suspicious of a public facet he wants to use to get some water. I tried to portray the mental battle between the paranoid and uncomfortable man, facing his fear of the cool and unmoving iron facet.

Movie Date is my design for the "Effective Use of Color" assignment. The goal of this assignment was to design an interface for a self-developed app where the user would understand how the interface should work through color. I was only allowed to use a primary color, a secondary color, and accent colors. It had to be clear, with only a minimal number of different colors, how the app should be used and what options the user has.

Because we were free to come up with an app idea, I chose something I'm very passionate about: watching movies. The concept behind Movie Date, is that when you have to decide on a movie with other people you can use the app to "swipe" movies (similar to dating apps). When everyone in a group has swiped right on the same movie, the app will say what movie everyone agreed on and you can begin your viewing or watch-party.

This was my first real exercise in filming, where I not only had to consider the directing and editing, but also professional camera use, sound and lighting. I did not use any music, only sound. This way I could focus on conveying paranoia through the visuals.

I used lots of jump-cuts and close-ups to portray the man’s paranoia and to create an unsettling setting. This is further emphasized by the contrast between the static looking facet and the uncomfortable look of the man. The dripping of the water also gets progressively faster and more tense.
